Bailly takes on new role to scale and drive Cardano contributors
Input Output Global, Inc. (IOG), the software research & development company behind world-leading sustainable blockchain platform, Cardano, has appointed Arnaud Bailly as its Head of Architecture for Cardano.
Bailly previously worked at IOG as both Technical Lead for Engineer, driving the early development of Mithril, a stake-based signature scheme that improves the speed and efficiency of syncing times for nodes joining the network, and Lead Architect for Hydra, Cardano's layer 2 solution for faster and cheaper transactions settlement.
Graduating from the University of Lille with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bailly has previously worked for companies including Murex, Symbiont, and Solina before joining IOG. He also co-founded multiple companies including Capital Match, a successful peer-to-peer lending platform in Singapore.
He has been coding in Haskell since 2001 and professionally for over a decade. Haskell is a vital part of IOG’s work as all the core systems of Cardano are written in this programming language and forms the basis upon which was developed its Plutus smart contract platform.
In his new role at IOG, Bailly will work alongside Technical Architect, Duncan Coutts, to help the Cardano Core Tech teams continue the transition towards a more open development model and enable more people to contribute to Cardano, while preserving its best-in-class security level. He will also be responsible for overseeing the evolution of the architecture as new research results are incorporated into Cardano network, and the platform scales.
This news comes following another recent appointment at IOG, with the company announcing Zero-Knowledge Protocol expert, Dr. Vanishree Rao, as Head of Applied Cryptography to develop and grow its zero-knowledge proof expertise.
Romain Pellerin, Chief Technology Officer at IOG, said: “Since he joined us in early 2021, Arnaud has made significant contributions to the Cardano ecosystem by taking Hydra and Mithril research to working prototypes through rapid and smooth iterations of development. Hydra and Mithril are now leveraged by the DApps community as these technologies offer solutions for Cardano scalability. Arnaud’s pragmatic and open approach to software architecture will contribute to make Cardano core technology more modular and accessible in order to support the rapid growth of the ecosystem.”
Arnaud Bailly, Head of Architecture at IOG, said: “During my time at IOG, I have had the pleasure of working on some incredible projects that have helped to enhance the capabilities of Cardano. In my new role, I look forward to working alongside Duncan and the team, building on our knowledge and expertise to continue in our goal to create the best blockchain ecosystem possible for everyone.”
