Binance indicates crypto debit cards are on their way to Europe.
Binance has confirmed the shipping of its crypto debit cards to Europe following a tweet from Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, or CZ, several days ago.
âWe began shipping a limited quantity of Binance Cards on July 24,â a Binance representative told Cointelegraph in a July 27 email. âThe cards are being shipped to users in European Economic Area,â the representative added. Â
CZ posted on social media about the card shipments
CZ tweeted the news out in an unofficial capacity on July 25. âThis started shipping in limited quantities as of yesterday, I heard,â the exchange CEO said referring to Binance Card â the exchangeâs crypto-backed debit card.Â
Binance announced the card in April 2020, followed by the companyâs acquisition of Swipe, a digital asset debit card company. July brought news of card testing as well as an August European launch date for select parts of the continent.Â
Binance reveals future card plansÂ
The crypto exchange giant noted the card will soon expand its reach. âBinance Card will be available to order in the U.K. shortly,â the representative said. âWe consider it a global initiative and will be expanding to more countries and regions,â the rep added.Â
The representative did not give specific details on the cardâs geographic expansion, however, saying compatibility for additional countries will come slowly with time. âWe want to make this crypto off-ramp available in more countries and regions this year and in the years to come,â the representative added.Â
Amid economic uncertainty, while some businesses have struggled, Binance continues its booming growth in 2020, with its debit card holding as one area of expansion.
