Automation and robots are of great value to society. In Japan, that approach has become a lot more prevalent compared to the rest of the world.Â
One of the ventures worth keeping an eye on is the robots capable of packing one’s groceries.
Robot Workers Come at a Cost
It makes a lot of sense to explore such a venture in this day and age.
More and more consumers do their grocery shopping online.
They then have goods delivered to their home or pick it up at a local store.
The packing is still done by humans, something that can easily be replaced by robot workers.
For Ocado Group, their new partnership in Japan will be very interesting to keep an eye on.
It is believed the company will bring its technology to the Tokyo region fairly soon.
However, the company will need additional automated warehouses, preferably over a dozen.Â
While that is not out of the ordinary, there are concerns the company is spreading itself far too thin.
It also has a big partnership in place with Kroger, and that agreement needs to be honored as well.
This era of robot workers is proving to be very enticing, albeit it remains to be seen if companies can keep up with these demands and expectations.
It is also believed Ocado will process up to $1.9bn in grocery sales by 2025.
All of those groceries will need to be packed and processed by robot workers, obviously.Â
