The “Battle Royale” game Fortnite has been described as the most outstanding and unexpected success in gaming history. Business Insider reports that Fortnite has nearly 250 million players, over two-thirds the size of the US population. This has seen the developer, Epic Games, rise to a US$15 billion dollar valuation.
People are attracted to Fortnite because they don’t have to pay to play the game. It’s easy to understand, has colorful characters, life-like weapons, and picturesque scenes. Where do people find out how to play? YouTube stated that Fortnite has broken the record for the most uploaded videos for a specific game in a single month ever.
But once you’ve watched your fair share of videos, you’d be left with the desire for more. Anyone looking to gain an advantage over the competition can explore personalizing their game audio to fit their style of play. In fact, audio can be a secret weapon for any level of player from noob to pro.
A Little Known Secret in Fortnite
Footsteps sound, guns — particularly shotguns, are sound activities that distinguish Fortnite from other PC-based RPG games. For players, the audio is the icing on the cake to enjoying the entire gaming experience. That said, the audio is an important part of the experience. If the audio feels good to you, certainly the experience will translate to your performance in the game.
Notwithstanding, you may have heard complaints about the quality of audio in Fortnite. What you may not know is that in Season 8 the game started transmitting a 7.1 surround sound signal, but without an expensive pair of headphones most players will never experience the true 3D sound of the game. How then do you take advantage of this feature without splurging on a pair of headsets — which may cost as much as 2 to 3 grand?
The place of Audio Royale in Fortnite
Luckily, a company called HEAR360 invented Audio Royale — the world’s first PC sound driver specially tuned for Fortnite. Audio Royale processes the game’s sound to deliver the 7.1 surround sound in an immersive audio experience over headphones. One great advantage of Audio Royale is the deep audio personalization options it provides. Not only does it offer bass — boost and reduction sliders to adjust the bass’ depth, creating a more theatrical experience, but in addition the software has six presets which can be combined in nine different ways to help:
1. Increases your situational awareness
2. Locate footsteps through the walls
3. Pinpoint the source of gunshots.
The Interface
If you’re an avid Battle Royale player, you’ll appreciate the hands-on experience and the ability to take control of character interaction. Audio Royale has an interface that’s easy to get familiar with, allowing users to tune and dial in the settings to their preference.
From the visualizer where you can see the source of the sound around the player in 360°, to the EQ that allows you to custom-tune the game sound experience to your preference. The audio interface puts you in charge of the gaming experience.
AUDIO ROYALE comes complete with:
• Visualizer: Enables gamers to see the source of sounds, 360° around the character.
• Metering: Displays the levels of each of the surround sound channels in real time.
• Equalizer: Allows gamers to custom-tune their game’s sound to tap into their natural instincts.
Interestingly, with a $3.99/month sound driver on my PC, a regular set of earpiece can now perform the same audio delivery as would a $2400 headset. If you’ve been saving up for an expensive pair of headsets just to enjoy the sound experience in Fortnite, I’d recommend giving Audio Royale a trial.
Conclusion
I’ve been an active Fortnite player on PC since early 2018 and the thrill has been addicting to say the least. An audio experience like the one Audio Royale promises will take it to another level, and for those who take the time to dial in their own personal settings, it’s much more enjoyable.
