DutchChain’s Odyssey Confirms Dates for Blockchain and AI Hackathon

Recently, Odyssey confirmed the dates for this year’s edition of the Odyssey Hackathon. The event, which is the largest blockchain and AI hackathon in the world, will be held from April 11 to April 15 in Groningen in the Netherlands.

Odyssey is a subsidiary of DutchChain that promotes innovative ideas developed using emerging technologies such as blockchain and AI for the betterment of society. The Odyssey Hackathon, on the other hand, is the biggest development competition in the world and often attracts the most elite entrepreneurs and developers in the AI and blockchain industries.

Rutger van Zuidam, the CEO of Odyssey, said that the company is confident in the potential and future of blockchain technology despite the belief that it is a ‘bubble.’ The company intends to transform the world using blockchain and AI by working together with corporate giants, regulatory authorities, developers and entrepreneurs.

The registration for the Odyssey Hackathon began on January 18 and will end on February 25. The competition is open to both freshly formed teams and existing startups, SMEs and corporates. The teams should have between five and six members.

The hackathon will feature 100 teams competing to develop solutions for various sectors of the economy, including finance, supply and logistics, transport and communication, digital identification and so forth. The top 20 teams will receive €200,000 in cash.

The winners will also be enrolled in the Odyssey Incubation Programme, a platform that will enable them to develop and test their solutions before launching them in the real world.

Besides the Dutch government, the hackathon is also supported by KLM, the European Union Development Fund, the Dutch Central Bank, and Deloitte and the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets. There are also several other leading companies that are willing to nurture promising startups and ideas.

Prince Constantijn Van Oranje-Naussau, an advisor to the EU, said that he was eagerly awaiting the hackathon to see what the most innovative minds in AI and blockchain have to offer. He added that the participants of the competition are guaranteed of getting support in making their ideas a reality.

Raymond Knops, a minister at the Dutch government, said that the hackathon demonstrates the usefulness of blockchain and AI and unlocks new markets for upcoming businesses. He added that the Dutch government is ready to collaborate with any entity that uses technology to improve the efficiency of processes in society.
