Latest news about Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies. Your daily crypto news habit.
Hey So.. here is my first step by step mining rig tutorial with Nvidia GPUs. As my previous tutorial with the RX 580 8GB LE, this one also is a very powerful mining rig, stable with good power consumption. The GPUs used for this one are the Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8GB, i decided to go with this cards because of the 3 fans, the temps for those are great!
Since the crypto mining rush i wasn’t able to find two EVGA 750w PSU, instead of that i used the Corsair CS750M ones. The rig was tested with two dedicated to mining motherboards: Gigabyte H110-D3A (click here for full review) and Biostar H81A BTC.
As usual, i tested the hashrate with different altcoins, algorythms and miners like: Ethereum (DaggerHashimoto) solo and dual mining, ZCash (Equihash), Decred (Blake (14r)), Siacoin (Blake (2b)), Pascal, X11Gost, Lyra2REv2 etc.. Claymore Dual Etheruem Miner, Nvidia Optimised Ethminer, EWBF’s CUDA Zcash and Nicehash.
Let’s get started!

- 1. Place the motherboard on frame
- 2. Place the two PSUs
- 3. Attach USB Risers on each GPU
- 4. Attach 1x GPU on frame, power the riser with molex/sata, plug in usb riser cable to PCI-e 16x slot
- 5. Connect fans 3 pin cables with the extender, power it with molex
2 Step 2 – Windows installation, Drivers and Mining Tweaks
- Plug in USB stick with windows, power up the rig and install windows
- Follow this guide: Best Windows Setup, Configuration, Tweaks For Mining
- For Nvidia GPUs use latest drivers from their website
3 Step 3 – 1x GPU test
Before installing all the GPUs i highly recommend to run some tests with only one GPU, i always use Claymore Dual miner when it comes about benchmark.
- Download and extract on desktop Claymore Dual Ethereum miner here: https://mega.nz/#F!O4YA2JgD!n2b4iSHQDruEsYUvTQP5_w
- Download and install MSI Afterburner: http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/vga/MSIAfterburnerSetup.zip
- Go to Claymore’s extracted folder and run start.bat (note that the .bat file is ready pre-configured for dual mining. Test with dual and then delete -dpool settings to benchmark on ethereum only.
- While testing try increasing core clock to +100 and memory clock to +700 or higher
4 Step 4 – Connect all GPUs and Dual PSU
- Place the GPUs on frame and connect them with USB risers. 3x GPUs connected with PSU 1 and 3x GPUs connected with PSU 2
- Plug in Molex from PSU 1 to ADD2PSU Dual PSU adapter from PSU 2
- Plug in USB Riser connectors to PCI-e slots
5 Step 5 – Power up the rig with all 6 GPUs
Now that we have all GPUs connected and windows ready configured:
- Power up the rig
- Once booted in windows don’t do anything, wait for windows to discover all GPUs
- Go to device manager to see the progress
- When all 6 video cards are visible in Display Adapters, restart the rig
