We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of the Kroma Guardian House (KGH) Staking Service, a platform designed to democratize network security within the Kroma ecosystem. Built on the principles of inclusivity and decentralization, KGH empowers holders of KRO and KGH NFTs to actively participate in securing the Kroma network by staking their assets and earning rewards in return.
The KGH Staking Service will be launched on October 30th at 01:00 UTC, along with Kroma’s first airdrop. This marks the first Layer 2 that supports native governance token staking requiring active participation.
KGH: A New Era of Decentralized Participation
Kroma, an Ethereum Layer 2 optimistic rollup, relies on validators to ensure its security and integrity. Traditionally, participating in such a network required significant technical expertise, limiting participation to a select few. As the Kroma network’s validator system is permissionless, it had more than 300 validators at its peak. Compared to 1.8M wallets, the number of validators is very small. With Kroma Guardian House, we remove these technical barriers, allowing anyone — regardless of experience — to contribute to the network’s security by staking KRO tokens or KGH NFTs with Kroma validators.
By staking KRO tokens, users increase a validator’s chance of being selected as the priority output submitter, leading to higher rewards. On the other hand, staking KGH NFTs boosts a validator’s reward pool, allowing participants to share in the increased rewards. In both cases, users contribute to Kroma’s security while earning rewards proportionally to their staked amount.
Decentralization for Everyone
At the heart of KGH is the belief that true decentralization should be accessible to everyone. This philosophy drives our commitment to lowering the entry barriers for Kroma’s community members. Whether you are a seasoned blockchain enthusiast or completely new to the space, KGH offers a user-friendly and straightforward way to contribute to the network.
By empowering a wide range of community members to engage with Kroma’s validator system, KGH fosters a decentralized security structure that benefits both the network and its contributors. We believe that by making participation easy, we can enhance the security and resilience of Kroma while fostering a vibrant and engaged community.
KRO & KGH NFT Staking: Powering Kroma’s Validator System
Kroma operates on a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) system, where validators are selected based on the amount of KRO tokens staked to them. The more KRO tokens staked to a validator, the higher the likelihood of that validator being selected as a priority output submitter, resulting in higher rewards. Validators, in turn, share these rewards with the stakers after deducting a small commission.
In addition to KRO token staking, KGH NFTs can be staked to boost a validator’s rewards. This unique validator boost mechanism increases the rewards earned by validators, with these additional rewards shared among NFT stakers. Whether you choose to stake KRO tokens or KGH NFTs, your participation directly contributes to the growth and security of the Kroma network.

Migrating Your KGH NFTs and Completing KYC
To fully unlock the benefits of KGH NFTs, including staking and claiming locked KRO tokens, KGH NFTs must be migrated from the Kroma Layer 2 to Ethereum Layer 1. This migration is a must for enabling participation in the validator rewards system. We have streamlined the migration process, covering all transaction fees to ensure a smooth experience for NFTÂ holders.
Additionally, to claim KRO tokens stored within KGH NFTs, holders must complete KYC verification. This process is necessary to comply with regulatory requirements and ensure that all participants meet certain eligibility criteria. The KYC process is facilitated through the Argos platform, providing a secure and user-friendly experience. You can start on October 30th at 01:00 UTC on https://kgh.kroma.network/.
