Illuvium Release Features
So, Illuvium’s roadmap, which started in 2020, has reached an important milestone with the release of its three Ethereum games.
Let’s recap the major developments:
- Illuvium has been on the horizon for several years and first started raising funds in Q4 2020.
- The team built an initial prototype and moved to the Unreal Engine in the same quarter.
- In 2021, the Ethereum token ILV was launched based on the Ethereum Immutable X network.
- Illuvium officially launched after a play-to-airdrop campaign in recent months, during which players earned airdrop points by participating in public beta testing.
- When the game appeared on the Epic Games Store ahead of the third beta, the price of their ILV token skyrocketed and peaked in 2024.
What Are Special About Illuvium Games?
Illuvium has offered three games, the features of which are shared assets. These mythical Illuvials are available throughout the Illuvium universe thanks to the Ethereum Immutable X network.
Overworld is an open-world survival game in which players collect resources to repair their ship and can also hunt or catch Illuvials.
Arena is a strategic auto-battler where your Illuvials fight AI opponents or other online players.
Zero is a city-building simulator where you mine resources and stimulate the economy while trying to reunite with a crashed ship from Overworld.
Conclusions
It is clear that blockchain has huge potential to help remove technical limitations in the gaming industry. It allows several different games to be linked together through a game-wide crypto economy and actual ownership of crypto assets. Implementing such mechanics is complex without blockchain, which is a big problem in the traditional gaming industry.
We’re probably still waiting for this potential to be fully realized because even a good tool requires the right approach. Let’s see how this works for Illuvium, which should also indicate the price of their ILV. Its current trading at $67.
