Billionaire Owners of Bitcoin
The world’s first and biggest cryptocurrency is gaining the interest of the wealthiest among us. A recent study suggests that the number of billionaires who own Bitcoin is increasing rapidly due to the addition of new extremely wealthy people to the group.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Elon Musk is the world’s richest person and the number one Bitcoin holder in terms of net worth. The chief executive of EV maker Tesla is estimated to be worth $208 billion.
Over the years, he’s expressed great optimism about Bitcoin and the broader crypto asset market (especially Dogecoin, the billionaire’s favorite digital asset). He even introduced Dogecoin as a means of payment for items on the Tesla website. In 2021, Musk allowed clients to buy Teslas with Bitcoin.
Next up on the list is Mark Zuckerberg. The founder of Facebook (now Meta) is worth about $177 billion and is considered the second richest person to hold the orange coin.
Prospects of Growth
The list goes on to the third wealthiest person to hold Bitcoin — Larry Ellison, the founder of software firm Oracle.
Ranked fourth is Thomas Peterffy, founder of global broker Interactive Brokers. Fifth comes Changpeng Zhao, the founder of the world’s biggest crypto exchange Binance.
With the rising adoption and popularity of Bitcoin, that list is expected to grow in time, potentially boosting the price of Bitcoin.
