As you probably know, Ethereum network hashrate is about to fall into the hands of ASIC owners. The Antminer E3 should hash as good as 6 GTX 1070 cards at the price of only $ 800 USD ($2000 now) and with a power consumption of 800 W.
This means that we probably should look for other coins to mine. Lately, I’ve been testing Ravencoin that is probably one of the most promising ASIC-immune coins to the date. Ravencoin is based on a signature algorithm – the X16r and its purpose is to allow people to create and trade digital assets. It is a community-driven project that is getting a lot of love lately; you can read more about it here.
There is quite a lot of Ravencoin mining software to choose from, at the point it can get a bit confusing on which one to use.
Most of them have nice descriptions but those don’t really highlight the real differences and features (ESPECIALLY when it comes to hashrate with a specific GPU). I thought that the best way of figuring out which miner to use was by testing them all on my rigs and let the numbers speak.

Test Guidelines
The sole goal of my tests was to see how those miners perform when in the exact same conditions and using the exact same gear with the same clocks and voltage settings. Each of the miners has been working for an hour non stop.
I was also using a different wallet for every miner to make it easier to track the earnings.
Here is the hardware I’ve been using:
- GPU: MSI GeFroce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB
- Motherboard: ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0
- CPU: Intel Celeron G1840 Processor
- RAM: Kingston 4GB 1333 MHz
- SSD: Kingston A400 SSD 120GB SATA 3 2.5”
- USB Risers: VER 008S, 6-Pack
- PSU: Corsair RM1000x, 1000W
- Frame: aluminum open air frame

Top 5 Miners for Ravencoin
After the tests, I’ve picked five contestants that are interesting enough to be mentioned here. Let me briefly introduce them to you:
Nevermore v0.2.2
Nevermore is a ccMiner fork that is optimized for X16r mining. It was made by brianmct and alexis78 based on tpruvot’s work. According to certain reviews, this miner is more stable when mining X16r than the original ccMiner 2.2.5.

- OS: Linux and Windows (x86 and x64)
- Dev fee: 1% – can be changed before compiling
- Open Source: Yes
- Latest updates: Fixed issue preventing miner from submitting shares when Hamsi (B) is the first hash function in the x16r/x16s chain. This issue affected Nevermore v0.2 and v0.2.1. If you’re running any of these versions, please update to this release or newer, as this negatively impacted the average hashrate by 6%.

- Mined: 11.89734983 RVN
- Hashrate: 47.3 Mh/s – 53.2 Mh/s
Suprminer v1.5
Created in March 2018 and updated in April, suprminer is yet another ccMiner fork. It works on all modern operative systems, though devs warned that Windows x64 releases might not be as good hashers as x86 ones. If you’ve been using previous versions of this miner, you might want to give the 1.5 one a try since it has got a lot of performance improvements.

- OS: Linux, Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 (requires Visual Studio 2013)
- Dev fee: 1%
- Open Source: Yes
- Latest updates: runs well at linux, might have problems on windows, please report back. Should fix an issue where a windows build wouldn’t find a valid solution for hamsi for a long time

- Mined: 7.54786392 RVN
- Hashrate: 46.3 Mh/s – 51.45 Mh/s
z-enemy-1.05a – 1.08
Initially a ccMiner fork, z-enemy is now a fully independent piece of software. Reviews point out that z-enemy might be one of the best, if not the best hashers out there. That being said, it is a close-source software, which is why not everyone is going to use it. In order to get the latest version, you’d have to join the dev’s discord channel.

Ravencoin Miner v2.5 – v2.6
As its name suggests, this miner is designed to work exclusively with Ravencoin. I’m expecting this one to hash quite well since the user feedback is quite great for this one. The miner has also some useful elements in their interface. For example, the program calculates an estimate on how many RVN would you mine in a day if your rig keeps the same hashrate. Devs reflect the somewhat friendly nature of the coin and they allow you to painlessly set the dev fee to 0% right from the miner interface – no need to recompile the whole application every time.

From my tests looks like Nevermore z-enemy-1.08 is the one to go, like i said i have used the same intensity (-i 21) with all miners, same clocks (core clock +100, mem clock -502) and same TDP (65%). Let me know what are you results by commenting below!
I really wish miner creators email me their best tested settings so i ca re-do the tests
In Conclusion
Luckily for us, there are a lot of miners to choose from. It is impressive how much attention and love Ravencoin is getting now. Even more impressive for a coin that is only few months old.
I am also working on an article where I will be talking about the best hardware for Ravencoin mining. Don’t miss it out! I’m sure you will find a lot of interesting info there.
Thank you for reading. As always, your comments, suggestions and questions are welcome.
