In light of the current market conditions, the cryptocurrency market is undergoing a profound transformation. Several projects, such as Celsius (CEL), are contending for survival, whilst prominent projects from the past, such as Terra (LUNA), are about to perish.
In addition, Terra has suffered further unpleasant news. Derby Stars, a play-to-earn (P2E) game based on horse racing, is migrating to the Polygon (MATIC) Network, as opposed to its initial deployment intentions on Terra.
The Derby Stars team got migration requests from over ten blockchain foundations after the catastrophic incident of Terra.
The Derby Stars finally opted to move to Polygon after evaluating the scenario overall. Polygon has been functioning without interruption for many years, a significant element in Derby Stars’ choice.
Derby Stars will get top-tier support from Polygon Studio, the NFT and gaming division of Polygon, which will offer Derby Stars technical, public relations, and marketing assistance.
Soon after the migration, Derby Stars will continue as planned with the token production event that will fuel the virtual economy and the Alpha game launch that will fetch NFT functionality.
Commenting on this huge milestone, Ryan Wyatt, CEO of Polygon Studios, said:
“Polygon continues to be a leader in Gaming in web3. Derby Star’s migration illustrates our commitment to helping the Terra community and furthers our mission to build a world class gaming ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, Sean Hahm, the Lead Producer of Derby Stars, expressed his excitement and said:
“We are very grateful for the partnership with Polygon. We hope that together we will find answers to some of the major challenges that the GameFi industry faces today, such as high transaction fees, limited NFT functionalities, and more importantly, the need for improvement in game quality and user experience.”
How can the duo of Polygon and Derby Stars disrupt the P2E industry?
Derby Stars is the first-of-its-kind AAA horse racing P2E metaverse game in which players can breed, nurture, design, and sell horses.
A team of gaming veterans conceived Derby Stars, which aspires to provide a level of performance never previously seen in an NFT game. Derby Stars is fostered by UNOPND, a Web3 startup studio focused on gaming and powered by Hashed.
Polygon, on the other hand, needs no introduction since its Ethereum-scaling features have stunned the blockchain market in several ways. Moreover, Polygon has a highly engaged community of gamers, with over 900k weekly active wallets at the time of writing.
In addition, Polygon Studios has occupied a prominent position since its inception less than a year ago, and its roster of popular games and NFT projects includes OpenSea, Upshot, Aavegotchi, Zed Run, Skyweaver, and Decentraland.
The legendary union of these prominent duos is a time of euphoria for the whole gaming community and a glimmer of optimism despite the current bleak market. It would be intriguing to see how far this partnership extends and what further aspects emerge.
