Weekly Spotlight: An interview with Rzijj — #3 Best Selling Artist on NFTb
There’s a calmness that exudes when Rzijj is on the other end of a conversation. Every now and then, his sense of humour bubbles through especially when you see him use his signature clown emoji 🤡.
Life has its ups and downs and everyone gets their share of it. Rzijj is no exception and has probably had a much larger share than most people yet his charisma and tenacity remain untouched.
We had a chat with Rzijj earlier this week and it was great getting to know the Creator behind the Bored Clowns project.
What’s your name?
My name is Reza, nickname Rzijj .
Where do you live and what do you like most about your city?
I live in Dubai but I don’t have any fixed location. I like my city [Dubai] cause it’s located near the gulf so I can enjoy it’s beach.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your background
I was born in Iran and I always loved to draw. Before I started my works on NFT, I was a seaman. I worked on merchant ships as an officer but there was always an empty part of me that wanted to be a professional artist.
How did you get into art?
Well my family have many artists so when I was a kid, I was familiar with arts. They found my talent in painting and I always loved to do digital paintings. If you check out my IG page you can see my digital paintings which I painted with my fingers on my phone.
What do you think is the next big thing in the world of NFTs?
Well NFTs will be the future cause it can make anything exclusive. I’m sure in 10 years it would be a common part of our lives to create or own an NFT.
What project are you working on right now?
Right now I’m working on a new generation of my Clowns. These Clowns are different cause each of them are original designs by me and will have a small story about their personality. All of them are my hand drawings so there are no 3d works. Each clown took a very long time to be created — never compare my NFTs to any pixel or 3d works 🤡.
What’s the inspiration behind the project?
My inspiration is myself. Clowns show my feelings and in deep, people that know me, can find a piece of myself by looking at the clowns. There was a dark part in my life that I was sad and bored so I create a character that shows my feelings.
What keeps you going?
There was a point in my life that I wanted to end it but I decided to get up everyday and do what I love to do — creating arts and NFTs. I really love doing these things, it gives my life a meaning to see people love what I create. Many people who buy my NFTs never put them for sales cause they find them more valuable.
What’s your tool-stack?
Well, I only do my painting on my iPad Pro with Procreate App. I think these tools are the best for creating 2D arts.
What do you do when you’re not behind your computer?
I do 8pall in my free time. I also like to go running — it relieves me from any pressure.
5 words that best describe you?
Creative, risky, unpredictable, generous and bored! 🤡
Bored Clowns is exclusively available on NFTb. Watch out for Season 2 — The Clown Project, will be dropping soon!
