Basic Attention Token (BAT/USD) has been making major gains during the past 24 hours. According to Coingecko, this token has rallied by 23% to the currency value of $1.21. The price gains come after news of Brave’s partnership with Solana (SOL/USD).
Brave browser to integrate Solana’s blockchain
During the Solana Breakpoint conference, the CEO of the Brave browser and BAT token, Brendan Eich, announced that Brave will be working with Solana Labs to integrate wallet features offered by the Solana blockchain into Brave’s Web3 desktop and mobile browsers.
In the announcement, Eich noted that the integration would happen during the first half of 2022, and it will offer default support for the Solana ecosystem to the 42 million monthly uses on the Brave browser. With this initiative, Brave will also venture into Solana for cross-chain compatibility and Solana native DApps.
“With more and more users and creators requiring tools for fast and affordable access to the decentralized Web, this integration will seamlessly pave the way for the next billion crypto users to harness applications and tokens,’ Eich stated.
The CEO of Solana Labs, Anatoly Yakovenko, also spoke of this development, stating that many people will access Web3 through mobile web. Therefore, integration with browsers was critical to enabling DApps to create the best web experiences.
Yakovenko added,
Brave’s announcement of Solana wallet support across all versions of their browsers is an important step to onboard the next billion users to Solana.
Through this partnership, Solana will also support Brave in executing the Themis protocol, a key milestone in the realization of BAT 2.0.
BAT token records major gains
The announcement further stated that through this partnership, Solana will encourage developers to use the BAT token for DApps built on the Solana network, which represents increased use cases for the BAT token.
The Solana network has been seeing major adoption in recent months, with its value shooting to all-time highs of around $259. Hence, the partnership has shed a positive light on the BAT token that has seen major gains during the past 24 hours. Following the announcement, BAT gained from around $0.98 to a monthly high of $1.36.
