What is Ethereum?
Founded in 2015 by Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum is a cryptocurrency, and Ether, or ETH, is its market denotation.
More specifically, Ethereum is a form of blockchain that is designed to transform the way apps function on the internet today. It allows developers to built and operate decentralised applications that don’t require a central presiding authority.

When does Ethereum 2.0 launch?
Ethereum will soon transition fully way from the controversial Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus employed by Bitcoin to Proof-of-Stake (PoS), which some argue will make the platform more energy efficient, better for the environment, more scalable, and will give it cheaper gas fees/transactions.
This launch is scheduled to happen in three phases. Phase 1 of the Eth2 launch happened back at the start of December in 2020, but there are still two phases to go, so don’t expect a full launch until 2022. This three-stage segmentation of The Beacon Change, The merge, and Shard chains is similar to the Cardano upgrade roadmap.
