What is Hegic (HEGIC)?
Hegic is a cryptocurrency project and HEGIC is its native token.
More specifically, it is an on-chain options trading protocol that runs on Ethereum and is powered by both hedge contracts and liquidity pools. For those of you that don’t already know, hedge contracts are like options, and they provide the holder or buyer with a right to buy or sell an asset at a certain price (strike) as well as imposing an obligation on the writer or seller to buy or sell an asset at a certain time period.
Hedge contracts are trustless, censorship-resistant and non-custodial, and they are guaranteed by the liquidity locked into them and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which executes the code automatically.
HEGIC tokens are the utility token of the Hegic platform, and they are used for the distribution of 100% of the settlement fees between all of the tokenholders. Holders also have the right to participate in platform governance, and they receive the added benefit of a 30% discount when purchasing contracts on Hegic.
